The best highlighters for every skin tone

Turns out one shade doesn't fit all

Most Popular

When it comes to strobing, highlighting or just gettin' your glow on - turns out it's not quite as simple as 'one shade fits all.' Because just like your foundation or bronzer, there's loads of different shades of highlighters out there, made 'specially with different skin tones in mind.

Wanna know which is right for you? Check out our handy guide:

For fair skin:

If you've got pale skin, look for a highlighter with a pearlescent, silver or champagne sheen. These tones will add radiance and glow - without looking stripy or too golden.

For medium or olive skin:

If you've got slightly darker skin, or an olive undertone - look for highlighters with peachy or warmer golden shades. Lighter highlighters can make you look more frosty than glowy.

For dark skin:

Dark skin tones want to stay well away from the champagne coloured highlighters as these will totally wash you out or look grey in bright light. Look for rich rose gold or bronze-toned highlighters which will give you a gorgeous warmer glow.

We like: Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold (£32.00) NYX Born to Glow in Gleam (£7.00) and Benefit Sun Beam (£19.50)
