When it comes to learning new beauty tips, tricks and hacks - the general consensus here at Sugarscape HQ is very much 'more is more.' We wanna know everything, from getting the perfect winged liner to how to get the baddest brow game in town.
So, we've hunted high and low to gather a load more beauty intel that you should totally know.
Apply your eyeliner with your eyes open
If you close your eyes when you're drawing on your eyeliner then staaaahp it right now. Instead, keep your eyes open and look down into your mirror (lay it on a table or tild your head back) This way you're able to get super close into the lash line, and you get a more natural view of how it'll actually look when you open your eyes.
Thin out your foundation with facial oil
Loads of makeup artists use this weird trick backstage to get that supermodel glow. If your foundation is going on a bit too thickly, or giving a little more coverage that you'd like - add a couple of drops of your favourite facial oil to thin it out slightly and highlight your skin at the same time.
Set your eyeliner with powder
One of the most annoying things about wearing eyeliner is that gross midday imprint you get a few hours after applying it on the crease of your eyelid. To stop it happening once and for all, set your eyeliner after applying it with a loose translucent powder.
Use a contouring brush
Using the same brush for your contour, blusher, powder and highlighter isn't gonna pay-off all that effort you're clearly putting in. By using a specific 'contouring' brush will help you get a sharper contour AND allow your highlighter to pop. (Don't wanna splash out? Lottie London do a fab new range of contouring brushes that are cheap as chips and really good)
Brush your brows up AND down
So you're probably aware that brushing your brows up with a spoolie brush before you fill 'em in makes things 99% easier - but brushing them DOWN as well makes for the perfect arches. Once you get to the middle of your brow, brush the brow hairs down - which will reveal your natural arch and make it easier to fill them in, without hairs getting in the way.
Apply lemon to your legs before fake tanning
Sounds BIZARRE but bare with us. If you've ever noticed the shins of your legs being paler than the rest'a you, Cocoa Brown founder Marissa Carter recommends rubbing lemon onto them before you tan. There's science behind it and everything.
Strobe in a number 3
Everyone's heard a million times that the key to contouring is to apply your bronzer in the shape of a number 3 down the side of your face - but actually, this works for highlighting too. Follow Joan Small's pattern for the perfect, natural strobing effect.
Dry shampoo BEFORE bed
Alright so we don't really know WHY this works better - but it definitely does. Instead of waiting 'til the morning and waking up with greasy hair, spritz dry shampoo on BEFORE you go to sleep. You'll wake up with freshly-looking washed locks without the chalky dry shampoo feel. Promise.
Use a rubber band to get the perfect french mani
Wrap a rubber band around your finger before painting the tips to get a super slick and clean line.
For fuller looking lips draw a line down the middle in lipliner
Yeah, we learnt this one from Kylie Jenner's makeup artist so it's definitely one to know. Grab your lip liner and draw a line straight down the middle of the bottom lip, before adding lipstick or gloss. Kylie says it gives her that 'Angelina Jolie plumped up pillow effect lip' and trust us, it totally works.
Use a white eyeliner to make eyeshadow pop
If your eyeshadow payoff just isn't cutting it, prep eyes first with a white eyeliner. Apply your liner to the whole of your eyelid, before applying your eyeshadow. The liner will help the pigment grab onto something and allow the colour payoff to be much bolder.
