Right so you've spent twenty quid getting gel nails and they've been looking great for 3 weeks or so. But now they're growing out, looking a bit crap and it's time to get them removed.
But if you're anything like us - you probably really resent having to pay (plus, it's just an inconvenience) to go and have them taken off at a salon. And again - if you're like us - you'll know the actual PAIN that can be caused by chipping and peeling them off at home. (DON'T DO IT)
But do not despair pals - because there is a way of removing gel nails at home, that won't f*ck them up and is eaaaasy to do.
What you need:
- acetone (a really strong nail vanish remover will work, but check that it's not acetone-free)
- aluminum foil
- cotton wool
- an orange stick and nail file
Start by buffing the away the top coat of your gel nail varnish with the nail file. Just do this enough to break the seal of the gel polish.
Soak some cotton wool in acetone and place on the fingernail, and then wrap it securely with aluminium foil.
Leave nails to soak for 15-20 minutes (whack on an episode of Scandal and enjoy)
Take off the aluminium and use the orange stick to scrape off any excess polish. This should come away really easily. If it doesn't, leave them to soak a bit longer.
