Beauty trends are a lot like fashion trends. What was once popular in the 70s, 80s and 90s goes away for a decade or two, before coming around full circle again. So what was popular way back in the 70s, may well be totally back 'in fashwan' once again.
Here's our favourite 5 trends of the moment, that were BIG way back in yesteryear, and are totally wearable again today:
Pin up those pictures of your nan rocking pastel lids back in the 70s and make them your new summer makeup inspiration. Just be sure to keep it matte and go light on the eyeliner for a fresh modern look. (MAC's new Soft Serve collection is PERF for this look)
If you thought graphic liner was a totally modern look - think again. People have been doing edgy eyeliner trends literally since the ancient Egyptians, not to mention the fact it was huuuuge in the 70s and 80s.
Now that liners are so much better quality than those back then, you can experiment more than ever. Use a super sharp liquid liner for the sharpest wings ever. We like Ciaté's Chisel EyeLiner, £16.00
White eyeliner was huge in the 80s, and it's back big time for 2016. Whether you light-line your waterline, highlight the inner corners or go for a full-on graphic look - grab a white pencil and get creative.
Brown Lipstick was EVERYWHERE in the 90s (shout out to Posh Spice, Cher Horowitz and Rachel Green from Friends) and now, partly thanks to Kylie Jenner and True Brown K, a deep brown lip shade is still one of the most coveted hues around.
Nowadays it's the even darker brown shades that are back in business, with a more matte texture than their 90s counterpart, but still just as great.
Crimped hair was maaaassive in the 90s and has recently been reappearing on the runways at fashion week. This time around it's more about creating volume and texture rather than going full-on lioness. Check out how to create major volume with this little step-by-step we found on TheBeautyDepartment:
