Okay so we're guessing you already know Alex Brownsell? She's the co-founder of London's most exciting hair salon BLEACH London (together with Sam Teasdale, Lou's twin) and basically the brains behind all things pastel hair. So if there's ANYONE we're gonna listen to re taking the pastel plunge: it's Alex. Oh and she's just spoken to Teen Vogue all about 2016's upcoming hair trends so we're in luck. Listen up:
On what colours will be big for 2016:
I think inky goth hues will see a return to popularity this year, not that our introverted dark side has ever gone away, but it has been outside of the limelight (or should I say pastel light) for a few years now. Cool blondes will be taking a back seat and warmer golden tones and beach blondes will be big again by the summer. Boys are also embracing experimental colour way more than they ever have before, and this will continue.
On hairstyles she's loving right now:
My favourite trend at the moment is 'Medsev', medieval styles amalgamated with '70s textures. Picture Khaleesi-style braids and natural curls a la Maria Schneider. Grown out fringes (aka "gringe") like Carly Simon meets queen Elizabeth I and everything in between. Oh, and of course, hair tapestry.
On having Lottie Tomlinson as a client:
I love Lottie's youthful energy; she's great fun and loves trying out new things. Thats why she was fun to experiment on with the rainbow roots trend.
On cool colour moves that you can DIY IRL:
If you have naturally blonde hair and want to make it pink for the afternoon, you can use beetroot juice. On damp hair, spritz the beetroot juice through, dry it in, and you will have pinkish hair till you wash it out.
