Having oily skin can be a right old ball-ache. Suuuure "you won't get wrinkles" they say; but you're also way more prone to outbreaks, your makeup doesn't last long and it looks like you could fry an egg on your forehead. It's really NOT a blessing in disguise mum, it's not.
But - don't worry, fellow shiny skinned pals. 'Cos we feel your pain. And we've also come up with a foolproof formula to making your foundation stay put all day. Check it:
Start with a super clean base
If you suffer from oily skin, it's important to cleanse thoroughly before applying your makeup - otherwise the excess oil will just make your makeup slide right off of your face. Try a cleansing brush like Clinique's Sonic System Cleansing Brush for a real deep-down scrub.
While you want a clean base, you don't wanna scrimp on the moisturiser - 'cos your skin will just end up producing more oil in order to try and hydrate itself. Opt for a water-based moisturiser like Kiehl's Oil Free Gel Cream.
Use a stippling brush
Right so now you're ready to apply your foundation. It might seem obvious to choose a matte formula to avoid excess shine, but the real key to making your foundation last is in its application. Use a stippling brush like Real Techniques Stippling Brush to really work the foundation into your skin.
After foundation, you're going to want to powder - but be careful of any powders that contain 'illuminating' or 'highlighting' particles, 'cos these are just gonna make you look shinier. Opt for a sheer, translucent and matte formula, which will soak up any excess oil. We like Rimmel's Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent.
And tuhhh-daaaaa, a oil-free face that'll keep you goin' all day loooong.
