So you're thinking about getting your nose pierced? Right, well stop watching those horrendous YouTube videos, and listen up. 'Cos we've come up with the ultimate list of things to know before getting a nose piercing, so you can feel prepared (not petrified) before stepping foot inside the piercing shop.
It will hurt more than getting your ears pierced but it won't kill you so calm down
Right, we won't lie. Yes, it WILL hurt more than getting your ears pierced - but don't get yourself all worked up because it's also really not THAT bad. More of a burny, stingy sensation for all of 20 seconds and then you're kind of okay.
It will ache afterwards for a few days
So after you get it done, it'll ache a bit. Nothing crazy, but you might wanna pop a painkiller. This is different for everyone - some people saying it ached for a few hours, some saying it was for a few days. General consensus? After 7 days, you should be a-okay.
If you bang it during this period, it will hurt like hell
So top tip: don't bang it.
You need to clean it daily
Despite being in a bit of an awkward place, it's dead easy to clean your nose piercing. All you need is a Q-tip and some saline solution and jobs a gooden.
You have to keep a stud in for 2 months and ideally shouldn't change it before then
We say ideally, because depending on where you get it done - that first stud can fall out reeeeeal easy - and the piercing will heal up ridiculously fast if you don't immediately replace it. It might be a good idea to have a few extra studs on hand just incase yours falls out.
Try not to fiddle with it 'cos you might get a lump
But it WILL go, so don't worry. It's basically a non-permanent build up of scar tissue, which in most cases goes after about 2 or 3 weeks.
It will all be worth it
Because they look SO GOOD and you'll love it. Promise.
