So it apparently all started when Chris Merkle, the genius behind the new beauty app Flawless, had a light bulb moment when his ex-girlfriend couldn't find the right shade of lip colour. He thought, 'What if you could take a picture of a colour that you liked and an app would help you find that exact shade?' Then, he created the app that helps you do just that and more. IT'S GENIUS.

The app is called Flawless, and here's how to use it:

1. Download "Flawless Makeup" from the iTunes app store. It's free, but only for iPhone-carrying patrons at the moment. It will be available for Android soon, soz babes.

2. Take a picture of a colour you like. Flawless can match to any colour, from your friend's pretty pink wallpaper, to your nan's purple cardigan. Whatevs.

3. Wait a moment for the app to analyse the colour.

4. Browse the options it gives you that range from the closest shade match to multiple variants of it.

5. Click to buy it

The creative flow doesn't stop there. The app also allows you to custom-blend your own shade, and even gives you the option to recreate your go-to lip colour (for $45) if your favourite beauty brand discontinued it.
