If you didn't already love all the side effects of your monthly menstrual cycle (hello bloat, belly ache and blemishes) it turns out that your period could very well be f***ing up your hair too. Fabulous.
It turns out that if you often get oily skin around your time of the month - you're probably producing more oil on your scalp too.
It's all down to the heightened progesterone levels in our hormones and the link these have with excess sebum production (aka the stuff that clogs your pores up and gives you spots) le sigh.
And you guessed it - if you're producing excess oil on your scalp means you can probably say hello to greasy, limp and lifeless hair around the time of your period, too. FABULOUS.
Annoyingly, there isn't really a way to combat this - as it's all down to your hormones - but trying out the whole reverse washing system thing might be a good place to start?
