Remember a few months ago when it seemed like the whole Youtube world was concealing their undereyes with lipstick as a colour-correcting beauty hack?
Yeah well, as much as Ruby Woo seemed to cancel out undereye bags pretty well, turns out it's not actually the safest of tricks out there.
Dermatologist Annie Chiu told Allure: "Eosin, the dye that gives red lipstick its colour, can also irritate skin, and going for the red-panda technique requires loading it on the already sensitive eyelid area. The skin there is up to 10 times thinner than the rest of your face, so it's even more vulnerable."
Chiu then went on to strongly caution anyone with sensitive skin against using the technique, and said that it's 'still not ideal' for the rest of us.
"Even the hardiest epidermis can wind up with a clogged pore or tear duct, so don't make it a regular habit—but if you're in a pinch or trying to decide if a red-orange corrector is worth looking into, start sparingly and go from there."
Another beauty hack down the drain. Damnit.
