There's been loooooads of buzz around the Kylie Jenner Lip Kits ever since they launched. They sell out every time within MINUTES and one time, they even broke Google.
But if you've forked out the $29 plus £14 customs fee whacked on the end'a it - you might get a bit pissed off reading what we're about to tell you.
'Cos Stephanie Nicole, a beauty blogger and vlogger, decided to properly delve into the ingredients list of the Kylie Jenner Lip Kits after loads of people had been speculating that Kylie's Lip Kits were essentially exactly the same product as ColourPop's Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks - just repackaged.
Stephanie discovered that they're basically the same thing, especially the newest version of Kylie's colour Candy K. When it first launched, it was nude with a touch of pink undertones but since then, it's been re-formulated and is now way more pink than before.
"I do feel like the formula is much thinner," Stephanie explained. "The first formula is mousse-y and creamy, and the second one is significantly more watery. The ingredients from this Candy K and the ColourPop Clueless Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick are identical, the ColourPop one does have a few other ingredients in there, which are filler products, but every single thing that's in these Kylie Jenner lipsticks are in the ColourPop ones."
So basically - instead of spending your life's savings (and waiting approximately three weeks) to get your hands on Candy K, you could'a just bought a ColourPop one for $6. Ideal.
In the instagram photo above, you can see the exact breakdown of ingredients. These are typically listed in order of what is used the most to what is used the least.
Stephanie writes: "The company has to pay Kylie Jenner because her name is on it. The extra money is not going for product development or better ingredients, all she is doing is basically lending her name out to a brand that knows that no matter what it is, people will wait in line. So when they saw the huge response, they cut some corners, and took a good formula and made it cheap."
Crikey. What do you make of all this then? Waste of money or are you happy with your Lip Kit? Let's chat @sugarscape
