Notorious queen of online troll fighting (and little known, mildly successful author) JK Rowling has struck again, this time to defend herself against some beyond stupid comments from a politician.
Rowling hit back at a ridiculous MP who blindly accused her of supporting 'misogyny and abuse', and JK slayed her so completely that we're pretty sure there may have been an unforgiveable curse involved.
JK Rowling went head to head in a good wizard versus dark wizard duel on Twitter yesterday against politician Natalie McGarry, who'd claimed that the author had been "vanity searching" her own name and "defending abusive misogynistic trolls". Errr?
Funnily enough, Jo was keen for an explanation for the bold claims, replying to Natalie immediately with: "Show me where I have defended misogyny and abuse, please."
With such serious accusations, JK Rowlz wasn't letting this one go any time soon, later asking again with: "I'm waiting to hear where I've defended misogyny and abuse." Yuh huh.
After a radio silence for quite some time, Natalie eventually replied with zero real evidence to her claims, instead just arguing: "You tweet support of a misogynist abuser. You talk of Twitter abuse and then (metaphorically) cuddle up to trolls."
But JK wasn't having ANY of it, and once again asked for a real explanation as to what the bloody hell Natalie was actually going on about.
"You are a politician making a public accusation… You aren't some random hater, Natalie… You've accused me of supporting abuse and misogyny," she fired back.
Things kicked off even further when Natalie then went on to provide screenshots to back up her claims which JK Rowling stated had been edited, and that's when she really unleashed the Norwegian Ridgeback of FURY.
And then D-word was dropped. No not Dumbledore, we mean DEFAMATION.
Funnily enough, that soon had Natalie in more of a tangle than your average patch of Devil's Snare, and after ignoring the messages for as long as possible, she then returned to Twitter to apologise.
"Dear @jkrowling. On reflection, I do apologise for any misguided inference that you support misogyny or abuse instead of the folk you tweet," she tweeted.
All was well. Kind of.
What do you reckon to all of this drama? Did JK Rowling handle it like a pro once again? Let us know with a tweet to @Sugarscape.
