So we might not have had Leonardo DiCaprio actuall starring in a YA movie franchise yet (still reckon he should have been Edward Cullen tbh), but we have got the next best thing for anyone who love a bit of Leo.
He's bought the rights to YA novel The Sandcastle Empire by Kayla Olson, and he's gonna soon be working his movie star magic to transform it into a huge blockbuster.
Leo will be producing the film adaptation like one of his French girls, with a bit of help from producer Jennifer Lavisson who also worked on his Oscar nominated flick, The Revenant.
The Sandcastle Empire hasn't actually been published yet which is frustrating 'cause we REALLY wanna read it, but it's all about Mr DiCap's favourite subjects –climate change and global warming.
The book tells the story of a young woman named Eden who fights with a group of other women for their survival in the year 2049, when the Earth is at breaking point due to climate change.
A radical faction known as the Wolfpack overthrows the government to atke control, and after Eden escapes their labour camp, she flees to an island to find clues about what happened to her missing father, and to discover how to bring down the reign of the Wolfpack.
IT SOUNDS SO GOOD, and you never know – this could be the one where Leo wins an Oscar. Maybe.
Well this is VERY exciting. Can you get a better combo than YA fiction and Leonardo DiCaprio? Nuh uh honey.
