When you love One Direction and you love reading, it can be particularly magical when your two worlds collide. Whether you're obsessed with Anna Todd's After, or you just stick to delving into the world of fan fiction, 1D and books are a pretty great combo.
So that's why The New Guy (And Other Senior Year Distractions) by Amy Spalding has caught our eye – because it's basically every Directioners dream scenario written into a lovely story.
The New Guy follows Jules McAllister-Morgan as she helps new student Alex Powell settle in at her school. But Alex isn't just any transfer student – he was a member of a five piece boyband.
Well would you LOOK at that.
Despite living a superstar lifestyle, Alex decided that maybe just being a normal student at Maywood High would be more up his street, and even author Amy admits that there's certain similarities to one member of 1D in particular.
"I had a very specific picture of Alex in my head and when the cover arrived in my inbox, I thought, 'Wait, that actually looks a lot like Alex?'" Amy told Teen Vogue about building her characters.
"However, my mother insisted that Alex looks like One Direction's Niall Horan, and when I explained to her that he's not even described like Niall, she said I was wrong."
Of course, navigating high school is never simple though, and the book takes a dramatic turn when Jules discovers that Niall… ahem, we mean Alex has majorly betrayed her.
But you'll have to read the book to find out what happens. Gonna be giving this fan-fiction style story a go? Let us know with a tweet to @Sugarscape.
