One of the coolest parts of the Harry Potter fandom is the way you can very easily fall into a floo network of theories created my muggles about the wizarding world, and usually JK Rowling loves hearing about 'em all.
But yesterday she took to Twitter to immediately shut down the latest fan concept that's been created about Albus Dumbledore, describing the suggestion of him being involved with horcruxes as 'strangely upsetting'.
Well, DUH. Albus Dumbledore, the greatest wizard who ever lived, would NOT mess around with that sort of stuff.
JK Rowling is always keen to answer questions and explore new ideas about the Harry Potter characters, forever dropping in new details here and there to make the stories even more magical now that they've (partly) come to an end.
But this particular theory about Dumbledore did NOT sit right with her, as it suggested that Dumbledore's hatred of horcruxes was due to his regret over making one of the dark objects himself in Fawkes the Phoenix.
NO. DUMBLEDORE WOULDN'T DO THAT.
In a vid full of fan evidence to justify the crazy claim, a Potterhead argues that Fawkes wasn't just a pet, and was actually a horcrux held by Dumbly to harbour the part of his soul that felt guilty over the death of his sister, Ariana.
It's a pretty dark theory, but while JK Rowling is usually more than happy for fans to interpret the stories in their own ways, she tweeted her complete disagreement with this one, and admitted that she found it all "strangely upsetting". So there.
Not too long ago, JK Rowling revealed that the truth about making a horcrux is so horrific that it made her editor actually vomit when she shared the secret, so we do NOT want to think about Dumbly doing anything so awful, thanks very much.
NO THANK YOU GOODBYE.
Glad to hear that this one's absolutely not true? Or would you kinda love Dumbledore to be a li'l bit evil? Let us know with a tweet to @Sugarscape, but not until you've checked out the vid below obvs.
