If we told you that Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed had recently adopted a baby together, you might well collapse into a pile of confusion. So what if we told you that they’d adopted a giant, hairy, muscly baby who eats a bucket of apples every day and will let you ride it if you stroke it? AGH, terrifying.

All of the above is true, but it’s not quite the nightmare you’re probably imagining. Ian and Nikki have adopted an actual horse together, just a couple of weeks after causing a stir by going public with their new relationship.

Ian revealed the news via Instagram when he shared a snap of himself looking delish while posing with his new pet, and explained all about their ‘big baby boy’ in the caption. Anyone else think this is all slightly bonkers?

He wrote: ”Proud new dad... What amazing creatures they are. Wow. His name is Eagle. Thank you @iamnikkireed for snapping this special moment, with our big baby boy.”

All we want in life is for Ian Somerhalder to embrace us and give us that same look of love. Never been jealous of a horse before (apart from maybe that one that Zac Efron majestically galloped around on) but there’s a first for everything eh?

Funnily enough, it seems that Nikki could have been inspired to get a new pet by her latest project, as she’s just wrapped up on a movie called The Sunday Horse. Ian’s also known to be a huge animal lover, so they’re a bit of a match made in heaven really.

Ian and Nikki

We can see ‘em now, heading off on a Vampirey date and galloping through the wilderness together, with Ian being manly on the reigns and Nikki holding on for dear life. And errr… Nina Dobrev probably crying somewhere. Awks.

Apparently Ian and Nikki were all over each other at Comic Con too, so it sounds like things are seriously hotting up.

Thoughts on the latest addition to their little lovenest? Reckon it’s a bit soon to be buying a ruddy great horse? Comments please…
