Bella Thorne has shared that she hasn't always been comfortable in her own skin, explaining that she used to be so frustrated by her acne struggles that she would often cry at night at the thought of people judging her.
Deciding to upload a make-up free selfie to encourage young girls with skin insecurities to embrace their natural beauty, Bella captioned the image: "I know us girls love to put on makeup, not only for fun but sometimes to hide our insecurities, well, here is a photo of me without ANY makeup on my face. I took this photo while arriving to set this morning.
Offering her own story about how insecurity can eat away at a person, she continued: "Personally, I struggled with acne for a long time. I used to cry every night because I thought I looked so ugly. I used to read comments about my face, my skin, my nose, my eyes, and even my beauty marks people didn't approve of.
"Putting makeup over acne makes it so much worse. I know lots of my friends also struggle with acne and it's something you can't control. I know lots of people think others with acne are 'dirty' or 'don't take care of themselves'. That is false."
She then tagged the phrase #mynaturalbeauty alongside the image, and encouraged everyone to upload their own make-up free selfies, flaws and all, along with her.
