Ellie Goulding has taken to twitter to slam an "irresponsible" and "misleading" newspaper for misquoting her and making out she uses an IV drip to replace proper meals.
In a recent interview with Red magazine, Ellie discusses how she was once so exhausted during her tour that she had to use an IV drip to feed her body with nutrients.
In Monday's Metro, the quote used alongside her magazine cover said Goulding "confessed to hooking herself up to an IV vitamin drip to cope with her tough schedule," suggesting she uses an IV rather than eating all together - which essentially isn't what she was saying at all.
Along with a picture of the newspaper, Ellie slammed them on twitter, writing: "This has been brought to my attention today. An intentionally misleading "quote", extremely irresponsible of them.
"Misleading people into thinking I replace meals with an IV drip is the most absurd thing I've dealt with thus far. Actually I detest IV drips and only ever had one once years ago at the point of extreme exhaustion, and couldn't even complete it.
"Concerns me that something something like that can be so heavily misconstrued. Very sad because I am fit, healthy and strong and work hard. I can usually laugh off misquotes and ignore but this is a genuinely dangerous and irresponsible one."
Understandably, she was pretty annoyed by the whole thing - and we can only imagine being misquoted and made out to be something you're not gets v frustrating.
The Red magazine journalist who interviewed Ellie also took to Twitter to slam the misquote, writing: "Very upset to see Metro eke such nonsense out of my forthcoming @elliegoulding interview for Red mag, altho I'm laughing at how wrong it is.
"In my piece, Ellie says work is so busy it's hard to stop for lunch, but she also talks about scoffing Nandos, the great juicing rip-off, and how she ONCE got an IV vitamin drip for her knackered band members. Which all sounded quite funny."
The moral of this story? Don't misquote people and eat your meals, people. Let's discuss this over on our twitter, because we'd love to know your thoughts.
