Taylor Swift donates $250,000 in support of Kesha following Dr. Luke verdict, Demi Lovato would rather 'start a dialogue'

'At least I speak up about shit'

Loads of celebs have, quite rightfully, come out in support of Kesha following the verdict of her lawsuit with Dr. Luke; which saw her denied an injunction and forced to remain under contract with her accused abuser and Sony Music. And now Taylor Swift's shown some solidarity by donating $250,000 after once famously declaring 'there's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women.'

Taylor's spokesperson confirmed: "In a show of support, Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to Kesha to help with any of her financial needs during this trying time;" but one fellow celeb-type who doesn't agree this is a suitable solution is Demi Lovato.

Demi's claimed she'd much rather 'start a dialogue' about abuse and 'speak up about shit' than donate her dollar, and it's all getting a bit ridiculous to be honest. Sort of like a game of 'who's the better feminist,' which it isn't really about.

After hearing about Taylor's donation, Demi tweeted: "Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I'll be impressed."

It then reached new levels when Demi responded to an Instagram user claiming she was making Kesha's unfortunate situation about her by 'taking the attention' away from the matter at hand. She clapped back: "How the f*** am I making this about myself? At least I'm talking about it.

"Not everyone has 250l to just give to people. Would love to but I didn't grow up with money and def haven't made as much as her. At least I speak up about shit that's uncomfortable to talk about rather than trying to be politically correct 24/7.

"There's no "rivalry" I just give more fucks than other people and would rather start a dialogue ABOUT WOMEN COMING FORWARD ABOUT BEING RAPED than throw money at one person." [sic].

Hmm.

TayTay's yet to respond to Demi's comments and, let's face it, probably won't. We can't help but feel the matter at hand's sort of getting lost in all this, though. Shame.

What d'ya make of that, then? Do you agree with Demi or what? Tweet us your thoughts over @sugarscape or drop a comment in the box below, please and a-thank you.
