This weekend, Zayn Malik bravely opened up for the first time about his hidden battles with anxiety, after deciding that it was important to explain to fans why he'd pulled out of Capital FM's Summertime Ball at the very last minute.
He shared a statement admitting that he'd been 'haunted' by mental health problems for the past few months ahead of big performances, and amongst the thousands of Ztans showing their support for him was on-then-off-then-probs-on-again girlfriend, Gigi Hadid.
She tweeted a heartfelt open letter to her boyf praising his honesty, talent and good heart, but a few fans weren't so convinced by her li'l love note.
Replying to Zayn's statement with her own mini-letter (but y'know, also sharing it with 2.26 million followers on Twitter), Gigi expressed how she was proud of him for his fight against anxiety.
"I've seen the battles you go through and the way you fight to get to a place that allows you to get up there for your fans," she told Zayn (and the rest of the internet).
"Your bravery in those times makes me proud, but your honesty last night proved what you're all about, being real. Human recognises human."
Adding that he'd made the best of the situation by giving fans an insight into his struggles, Gigi added: "Your talent and good heart will never lead you wrnog. Love you and so proud of you always :) x G."
Pretty lovely, right?
Well err, we thought so. But it turns out that a few fans weren't quite so convinced by Gigi's open letter, and the replies to her tweet were soon flooded with people questioning why she'd decided to share her personal message for Zayn so publicly, rather than keeping it between them. Awks.
The general majority seem to be along the lines of 'Why didn't you just text him?' Hmmm.
Of course, there were also a shedload of Zigi shippers melting all over the place at the sight of Gigi speaking so proudly about Zayn, and who were pretty chuffed to see that he's got such a supportive girlfriend at his side through it all. But there ya go.
