Been wondering why Taylor Swift didn't show up with half of Hollywood on the MTV VMAs carpet at the weekend? It's a very good question, and although rumours reckoned that it was because she feared the wrath of Kanye West, she actually had a pretty valid reason for giving the party a miss.
Swifty was actually booked in for jury duty back in Nashville, because she is the most hashtag relatable popstar who's ever lived, of course.
Tay herself kept the job pretty quiet, but selfies soon started popping up on Twitter from regular folks who'd gone down to the court to follow their duty as an American citizen, only to find actual Taylor Swift sitting in the room waiting to find out whether she'd been accepted into the jury pool.
Sure, she might have missed Blue Ivy in a fancy dress, Ariana Grande on an exercise bike and various other magical VMAs moments, but she still looked as though she was loving life at jury duty.
Literally, imagine being a criminal and having Taylor Swift involved in sending you to prison. Lols.
According to Billboard however, Taylor won't actually be getting that far with proceedings. A Nashville judge has allegedly dismissed her as a potential juror in the aggravated rape and kidnapping case in question.
Davidson County District Attorney General's Office spokesman Ken Whitehouse said: "She asked to be left off out of concern for an upcoming trial in Denver, where she was - she used the term 'groped' - by a fan at a meet-and-greet."
You might remember the Denver case as the time that Taylor filed a counterclaim last year after a former radio host sued her following claims that he'd grabbed her bum.
Despite all of that, Taylor also reportedly told the judge she would be more than willing to serve on a jury in any other type of case. So there you go.
