Justin Bieber is the most followed person on Twitter, right? Well actually, no, according to a new report - which says that nearly half of El Biebo's followers are actually fake. GASP.
Luckily, the report isn't talking about a Regina George 'oh-my-god I love your skirt' kind of fake (that would just be mean) but classes bogus followers as those who have never tweeted themselves, are following less than 50 accounts, and have less than one follower.
The data also considers fake accounts as those who continuously tweet buzz phrases such as "diet", "make money" and "work from home" - and apparently a whopping 45% of the Biebertron's followers fall in to one of the above categories.
This means that Justin's REAL following is about 17.8 million, rather than 37 million, and makes Lady GaGa the true most-followed person on Twitter, as a solid 19m of her 35.9m followers are considered "real".
It's not just Bieber whose following list is being plagued by fakes either - Katy Perry, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and even Barack freaking Obama's Twitter accounts all have the same problem.

Gahd we love a statistic. What do you make of all this then, think there's any fakeys hiding out on your Twitter feed?
