Miley Cyrus sparked controversy YET AGAIN this week, after she appeared to wear a real fur coat onstage at the Y100 Jingle Ball.
Yep, fresh from making headlines with her 'Adore You' video teaser, which sees her 'touching herself' (ahem) Miley p*ssed off animal rights activists with her fashion choices, some of whom took to Twitter to argue that she might as well be wearing her beloved dogs.
One furious individual tweeted: "Miley Cyrus shame on you for wearing fur you don’t now what animals go through for that coat might as well wear dogs."
Another suggested that the singer should stick to her skimpy outfits, writing: "Miley Cyrus wears real fur! She may as well just go back to being half naked," while someone else tweeted: "Only thing more repulsive than @MileyCyrus is Miley Cyrus in fur. Her poor dogs, bet she’ll skin them next to make a pair of booty shorts."
What a lovely image.
Miley's furry coat is likely to burn bridges with animal rights charity PETA too - who last year honoured her by giving her a pig for her birthday. YES REALLY.
After she spoke of her love for the snouty animals in an interview on Ellen, the charity sponsored the pig in her name, releasing a statement that read: "Miley proved her affection for pigs when she retweeted a PETA action alert to her 10 million followers asking them to urge Walmart to ban its suppliers from cruelly confining pigs to tiny metal-barred gestation crates for months at a time."
"The singer's compassion for animals doesn't stop there. She lavishes love on her rescued dogs and consistently encourages people always to adopt and never buy. And she's striving to rid her diet of dairy products."
PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman added, via E! News. "From promoting animal adoption to speaking up for cows who suffer on dairy farms, Miley never stops letting her millions of fans know what they can do to make the world a kinder place."
Hmmm, we imagine this might change their tune just slightly - if the coat is real, of course. What do you reckon?
