In the last few weeks we've seen Lea Michele kick start her music career, which is set to make her a bit of a proper pop star judging by her debut single Cannonball. But while she starts to focus on that, she still has one more season playing Rachel Berry on Glee to go.
However, Glee creator Ryan Murphy has been opening up about the show and how the death of star and Lea's boyfriend Cory Monteith changed all of his plans - because Ryan had always planned for Finn Hudson to have settled down as a teacher in Ohio, with Rachel back by his side.
Ryan's been speaking in-depth about Cory to Entertainment Weekly, and as well as sharing some of his eulogy with the magazine, he admitted that the end of Glee circled completely around Cory, and saw his happy ending as his 'North Star' for the show.
"For me, Cory was both the beginning and the ending of Glee…literally. The first scene of the pilot was Cory’s Finn and Matt [Morrison]‘s Mr. Schu. None of us really knew what we were doing. Glee was a musical, musicals had never worked on television, and we were figuring it out as we went along.
"At the end of his first take, Cory could see I, his director, was a little unsure. He came up to me with a big grin and said, 'This is going to be fun.' He was terribly right, and terribly wrong.
Ryan also gave details on the finale of the show he always wanted to make, saying: "The ending of Glee is something I have never shared with anyone, but I always knew it. I’ve always relied on it as a source of comfort, a North Star.
"At the end of season six, Lea‘s Rachel was going to have become a big Broadway star, the role she was born to play. Finn was going to have become a teacher, settled down happily in Ohio, at peace with his choice and no longer feeling like a Lima loser.
"The very last line of dialogue was to be this: Rachel comes back to Ohio, fulfilled and yet not, and walks into Finn’s glee club. “What are you doing here?” he would ask. “I’m home,” she would reply. Fade out. The end."
Well, this is all seriously emotional, but what do you think about Ryan's plans for Glee's ending? Did you want to see Finn follow in the footsteps of Mr. Schu to become a glee club teacher? Were him and Rachel always destined to be together? Comments please...
