If you've had an eye on Ed Sheeran's Twitter over the last couple of days, you've probably noticed a fair few cryptic tweets floating about and with what we're guessing might just be a new single on the way, he's also announced that he'll be performing some brand new tracks on Saturday Night Live next month.

We don't know about you, but at this point we could probably recite the lyrics to every single track on Ed's debut even if someone blindfolded, made us listen to Slipknot at full volume and tickled us with a feather duster the same time. It's been worth the wait though and it sounds like the second record is finally ready to drop.

Having tweeted the date '7/4/14' with no further explanation, we're going to go ahead and guess that could have something to do with hearing the first single. Either way, there's some more big news and it sounds like Graham the cat doesn't like being made to ride about in Eddy's backpack as he added: "Cats out the bag, playing Saturday Night Live with some new songs on April 12. Aweshum." [sic]

Well slap us with a gingernut and call us Ron Weasley - IT'S ABOUT TIME TOO EDWARD.

Aside from the fact this means we're going to get to see Ed arsing about on the American comedy show with actual Kenan from Kenan & Kel, what do you reckon? Are your ears ready for some brand new music from El Sheero or do you think they are probably going to fall off in excitement?
