Bad news for anyone counting down the days to X Factor 2017 (is that you? IS IT?), as it's unclear whether the show will be making a return after this year's competition. AGH.
So y'know how Louisa Johnson AND Reggie N Bollie signed to Syco after last year's competition and everyone thought the new judging panel and presenters etc meant the X Factor was here to stay? Well the latest speculation suggests otherwise, as instead ITV focus on other ventures.
Yup, what with the channel poaching the production company that make The Voice (more about that here), television insiders reckon X Factor will be 'rested' in 2017 to make way for the other singing competition - and might not return if The Voice proves a hit.
According to a source at The Daily Mail: "[ITV] will rest X Factor for 2017 because there is no way they can run two singing contests and Britain's Got Talent in the same year, they cannot do it.
"Particularly because the X Factor contract is coming to an end and it has been a disaster. If The Voice is a success it's unlikely they will bring back the X Factor but if The Voice is a disaster they have the X Factor."
Oh gahd, it all sounds well confusing, doesn't it?
What this means for Caroline Flack/Olly Murs/Nick Grimshaw 'n' all we're not entirely sure, but would you be on board with The Voice being a thing over the X Factor? What would you prefer? Let's discuss over @Sugarscape, y'all.
