As if a movie role opposite Tom Hardy wasn't quite enough to kickstart the acting career, Harry Styles off of One Direction was slap-bang in the middle of some tres interesting Scream Queens-related rumours this weekend.
The cast of the show were chatting at PaleyFest on Saturday when they landed on the subject of celebrity cameos – and it wasn't long before Twitter BLEW UP after the cast seemed to confirm that Harry would be making an appearance in season 2.
But errr, don't let yourself get too excited at the thought of him in a red latex cape, because everything is not as it seems.
Waaaay back in December, Lea Michele said in an interview that she'd 'heard a rumour' that a male popstar could be joining the Scream Queens gang for the next series, before adding that everybody knows how much she loves One Direction.
So y'know – 2+ 2 = Harry Styles in Scream Queens. Duh.
But this weekend's debacle has unfortunately put the brakes well and truly on that idea, after the official Scream Queens Twitter posted a tweet which basically sent the entire world into meltdown, and then had to clear up the rumours once and for all.
"Emma Roberts and Keke Palmer are currently fighting over who will get with Harry Styles in Season 2," they tweeted, causing loads of fans to explode with joy over what seemed like a confirmation.
But err, hold your chainsaws, deep fat fryers and red devil masks right where they are, because you probably don't need to be celebrating quite yet.
The Twitter account then later went on to confirm that the cast had just gotten a bit carried away with rumours at the Q&A, announcing: "Sorry for any confusion, but as much as we love Harry Styles, he will not be joining the Scream Queens Season 2 cast."
So that's a bit disappointing to say the least, but we still have this truly epic, scarily fit fan art to help us mourn for what could have been.
And at least that beautiful head of his won't be being lobbed off with a gilded candlestick any time soon.
So that's that dream over and done with. Gutted that Harry won't be joining the Dicky Dollar Scholars this time around? Let us know with a tweet to @Sugarscape.
