Harry Styles and those glorious curly locks of his had better watch their back, because simultaneously texting and walking could soon land him in prison - or a $50 fine.
Yep, it's bad news for anyone who uses Google maps, messenger or wants to change the song they're listening to whilst walking along a pavement, as politicians in a US state are trying to make this a punishable offence. Wait, WHAT?
According to The AP, New Jersey are trying to attach the same penalities as jaywalking to texting and walking, with state assemblywoman Pamela Lampitt proposing that anyone caught texting and walking should be fined up to $50 or imprisoned for 15 days.
Speaking about her proposal, she explained: "Distracted pedestrians, like distracted drivers, present a potential danger to themselves and drivers on the road. An individual crossing the road distracted by their smartphone presents just as much danger to motorists as someone jaywalking and should be held, at minimum to the same penalty."
This legit could make a huge impact on our lives and we're not sure we're prepared for it - although having said that, there's nothing more annoying than incredibly slow walkers blocking up the pavement 'cos they're on the phone.
What do you lot reckon, though? Is texting whilst walking a worthy offence for prison time or what? Discuss with us @Sugarscape, yo.
