Before you get stuck into this article, we'd just like to issue a big fat SPOILER ALERT for anyone who's bothered about that sorta stuff. Right, have you clicked off yet? Sure you're ready? Cool, don't say we didn't warn you.
The Vampire Diaries is absolutely NOT in viewers' good books this week after it's only two remaining LGBTQ characters were killed off, leaving no representation to feature in the show now. Zero, zilch, diddly squat.
Mary Louise and Nora, two lesbian characters, were seen killing themselves in the most recent episode of TVD in an attempt to destroy the Phoenix dagger, after Nora was marked by the weapon and Mary Louse was poisoned by the blood of hunter Raina Cruz.
It was pretty traumatic in itself, but their deaths also mean that there's now no LGBTQ representation left in The Vampire Diaries – and it's all come just a couple of weeks after the huge #BuryYourGays campaign spread online.
It's not just The Vampire Diaries in hot water for their death decisions, as The 100, Jane The Virgin, The Magicians and The Walking Dead have also killed off popular lesbian characters recently, leaving fans wondering wtf is going on.
The Bury Your Gays movement all came about as fans claimed that LGBT characters on telly seemed unable to live happy lives like their straight pals, and it looks as though TVD has fallen into the pattern now too having already got rid of Aiden and Luke.
