In what can only be described a COMPLETE 180, despite earlier reports that Nicole Scherzinger was all set to turn down a role on the X Factor due to her previous commitment to Cats; she's now decided to ditch the musical for a judging spot on the panel.
Despite this news potentially causing Simon Cowell to cartwheel around his front room to re-runs of the 2012 show; there's one person out there who is NOT up for seeing Nicole talking about balls every Saturday night - and that's Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The composer of Cats has made his opinion on Nicole's choice pretty clear, in the process confirming the rumours that neither Nic nor the X Factor have formally acknowledged yet. In an interview with The Economist, Andrew Lloyd Webber explained exactly what happened:
"A week before we were due to go into rehearsals with Cats, which luckily I'm not producing I have to say, she calls me and says she's decided to do X Factor, having agreed to it. She's crazy, but the American producers took a view of, "Oh fine, we'll get someone else." She's actually not that well known in America. She's better known here.
Adding that her change of heart has made him look like a total 'twot' (what a word), he said: "I'm furious because I really believe she's the most fantastically brilliant girl and I went out on a limb to get her at the Palladium and now I look like an absolute twot with them all."
Unleashing a genuinely inspiring level of sass, he continued: "Nevermind, there will be another girl on Broadway and Nicole will not get her Tony Award."
Well. He's certainly made his feelings known.
