Disney star Justin Martin will spend 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to five gun charges earlier this week. Ahh.
Best known for his role opposite Zac Efron and Corbin Bleu in High School Musical 3, the actor will also serve one year probation and abide by a restraining order from the scene of the crime.
The Suffolk Country D.A.'s office confirmed that the actor was sentenced on Tuesday for his involvement in a gunfight last July, which involved Martin and a male friend in possession of handguns.
TMZ alleged that the actor took aim at the police with his gun but did not shoot, whilst his friend fired shots but missed. Police reportedly fired back but also missed, and the two males quickly fled the scene.
Justin was later charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm, and two counts of assault by means of a dangerous weapon. He pleaded guilty to all five charges.
Boston Police Commissioner William Evans since commented on the encounter being "too close for comfort", before adding: "Our officers put their life on the line every night, and it's just way too many guns out there.
"I think we have appealed to the public to help us here, and tonight exhibits the challenge we face nightly out here on the streets."
