Instagram has lulled the best of us into a false sense of security without even realising it. After dropping the algorithm bombshell and sending celebrities/bloggers/Insta users of the world into a state of "OMG PLEASE TURN NOTIFICATIONS ON FOR ME SO YOU SEE MY POSTS" panic, they kind of pissed off and didn't really do anything.
Until now that is, as after testing the algorithm (which puts posts in order of popularity rather than chronologically) for two months, Instagram discovered posts were actually recievin more likes and comments. Oooh.
A spokesperson commented: "On average, people miss 70% of their feeds. It's become harder to keep up with all the photos and videos people share as Instagram has grown.
"You'll see this new experience as we roll it out over the coming month. We're going to keep improving over time to help make Instagram even better."
What this means is that your timeline will soon be a collection of posts Instagram *think* you want to see most, based on whose photos/videos you like, comment on and tag on a more frequent basis.
Oh, and it's bad news if you're hoping to keep the chronological timeline forever - Insta will be rolling out the algorithm worldwide. BOO.
