Finding Dory will feature the first ever transgender character in Disney animation, according to the actual voice of Dory, Ellen Degeneres.
This news comes after weeks of speculation that a lesbian couple were featured during the film's trailer, which the director of the animation would neither confirm nor deny.
But, Ellen has now spoken up about a certain character in the movie that transitions from male to female, telling USA Today: "There's a stingray that's becoming sting-Rhonda, so there's a trans sting in the movie."
In the past, Ellen has shared how important it is for different sections of society to be represented in the media, explaining: "I think everything that we see in the media, whether it's television or film or anything you see, should represent everything that's happening in the world. I think everybody in the world should be seen and represented."
Oh, and this all follows a recent campaign for the studio to give Elsa a girlfriend in the upcoming animation Frozen 2. The balls in your court, Disney.
