If you're lucky enough to have seen Wicked at the theatre, you'll know what a bloody awesome production it is - which is why were were so excited when it was announced that it was going to be turned into a movie.
Crack out your party hats and blow up some balloons, because now? Universal have announced on Twitter an actual, proper release date for Wicked, too - and it'll be hitting up cinemas on December 20 2019.
Yes yes we know it's bloody ages away, but can't we all hold hands and dance and belt out a loud af version of 'Defying Gravity' to celebrate? We'll be doing green facepaint by the canteen and Barry from IT's even got a false nose on.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, some of the people behind the original theatre production are set to be part of the film adaptation - including producer Marc Platt, writer Winnie Holzman, and composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz. Cool or what?
As of yet, though, most of the casting decisions have been kept under wraps - with Lea Michele and Sara Bareilles names being whispered around the rumour mill but nothing officially confirmed.
Still, if it involves huge musical tunes and the plot line of Wicked? We're sold.
