We hate to break it to you, but apparently we still live in the ACTUAL dark ages, where women are not allowed to own their sexuality and have sex without also being considered a bad role model.
At least that's what the organisers of the Miss GB pageant seem to think, because they've made the frankly ridiculous decision to strip Love Island's Zara Holland of her Miss Great Britain title after she had sex with new boy Alex on the show.
In a bullshit statement the organisers said: "We pride ourselves on promoting the positivity of pageants in modern society and this includes the promotion of a strong, positive, female role model in our winners.
"We wholly understand that everyone makes mistakes, but Zara, as an ambassador for Miss Great Britain, simply did not uphold the responsibility expected of the title."
Literally rolling our eyes so hard they might fall out. In what world does a woman having consensual sex mean that she is not strong, or positive?
Say it with us, pageant folk: SEX IS NOT A CRIME. SEX IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE ASHAMED OF.
Love Island host Caroline Flack hit back at the decision as did hundreds of fans of the show.
Cazza wrote: "Feel even more sorry for Zara now she's been de-crowned. She's a very sweet girl . What even is 'miss GB' ? Are we living in the dark ages ?"
Apparently so Flackers, apparently so.
Others were also quick to jump to the defence of Zara and criticise the morons over at Miss GB:
What do you make of all this? Think it's ridiculous?
