In news that will make you more impatient than waiting for a cake to cool down before you can slather the icing on it, the new series of Great British Bake Off is almost upon us, and the contestants have finally been announced.
With the line-up being the thing that really ramps up the excitement levels, we've decided to produce a mini-guide to all the faces you'll grow to love more than your friends and family over the 10 week programme.
Rav is a family man from Kent who works at City University London. He's a lover of vegan baking and is inspired by far eastern cuisine and unusual ingredients.
Louise is a hairdresser from Merthyr Tydfil, who now lives in Cardiff with fiancee Simon. She's been interested in baking for ten years after she started making cakes for charity bake sales.
Selasi moved to the UK from Ghana 15 years ago, and now works as a Client Service Associate in a Financial Institution. He's always producing delicate cupcakes for his company's baking sales, and lives with his girlfriend in London.
Candice is from North London and grew up helping her parents in the pubs they ran. She works as PE teacher in a primary school and credits her nan with teaching her how to bake. Cute.
Andrew lives in Derby and is an aerospace engineer for Rolls-Royce. He's a sharp cookie, having graduated from Cambridge University after achieving a string of A's at school. His next baking ambition is to design a baguette concorde, which sounds pretty snazzy.
Kate is a mum of two and a qualified nurse. She's a nurturer and a perfectionist and has loved baking since she was a child. She enjoys using seasonal fruits and produce which she gathers with her children from her parents' farm.
Lee started his working life as a builder but later studied theology and started working in various pastoral ministries. He began baking in 1984, after a back injury resulted in him taking some time off work.
Michael is studying Politics and Economics at Durham University. His family are originally from Cyprus and he's been making Greek pastries with his nan since he was a small child. He's always staying up late at night at Uni to produce his bakes.
Val is a former primary school headteacher from Conisbrough near Doncaster but now lives with husband Ian near Yeovil. She liked incorporating baking in her teaching, and has been at the helm of her kitchen for 60 years.
Benjamina works as a teaching assistant and has recently graduated with a 1st in Economics. She started baking at 14 and completely fell in love with it. She's a real perfectionist and takes pride in the appearance of her bakes.
Tom grew up in Rochdale but now lives in London with his wife where he works as Project Engagement Manager for The Royal Society of Arts. He's recently lost 30kgs, but hasn't lost his passion for baking.
Jane lives in Beckenham with husband Ray where she designs gardens for a living. Her two children are at University, but Jane is always up at 5am to get her bread in the oven for the day. She's very calm under pressure, which could bode well for future challenges.
Time to get familiar with this lot. The first episode of GBBO airs on the 24th August, so the wait will be over soon.
