Speculation over who will play the lead role in the film adaptation of E L James’ novel, Fifty Shades of Grey, has taken a new twist - after Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder revealed he’d love the part.
Ian admitted to MTV News that he thinks playing Christian Grey – a manipulative billionaire who likes to get freaky in the bedroom – would be ‘amazing'.
Oh and apaz, his experience as Damon in The Vampire Diaries could have actually prepared him for the role!
"I think it would be an amazing thing," he told MTV News, "One interesting thing is, by the virtue of playing Damon for now a few years, [he's] 170 plus years old, in love with an 18 year old, I officially have a lot of experience seducing younger women.”
Ummm, ok then! Ian definitely has the sexy, smouldering looks needed to take on the role – but he could have some competition for the part - from a fellow vampire no less.
Many want Twilight’s Robert Pattinson to star as Grey, and think Kristen Stewart should play Anastasia Steele, (what a name) a virgin seduced by the billionaire.
Author E L James has previously admitted that she based the NUMEROUS sex scenes in the book on her fantasies about Twilight characters Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. (Ick)
But we can’t decide if Robsten starring in the film would, therefore be quite fitting - or if it would just make us feel all weird and creepy.
What do you think – who would you prefer to see play Christian Grey?
