So what's it all about, then?
Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly (Rose Byrne) are expecting their second child and preparing to move out of their house to start a new life for themselves as a family. There's one teeny tiny issue, though; the couple looking to buy their house will go through with it on one condition. That condition? That they can drop by any time to check everything's alright in the neighbourhood.
The shit basically hits the fan when Shelby (Chloë Grace Moretz) and her pals move into the house next door (rented by Teddy Sanders (Zac Efron) in Bad Neighbours, remember?) to start a sorority.
Oh, WHAT could go wrong?
Anyone good in it?
Oh, y'know, just a few decent names. Zac Efron, Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne Chloë Grace Moretz, Dave Franco, Selena Gomez. No biggie.
What were the highlights, please?
Okay, so there were a LOT, but without spoiling it we're gonna say:
- Firstly, the plot. Strong, independent women in a teen flick? FINALLY.
- Chloë Moretz in general. She baaaadass.
- Zac Efron providing some well emotional moments. It has SUBSTANCE.
- The fact it genuinely had us laughing the whole way through.
If it won an Oscar, it'd be for...
Being a teen movie that a) actually promotes feminism in the first place and b) manages to do so in a hilarious, not-in-the-slightest-bit-patronising way. We leit think this might be the first time Hollywood's achieved that in a genre so stuck on gender stereotypes.
But these bits should've been left on the cutting room floor:
We're all for inclusive characters, right, but the fact Pete (Dave Franco's character) is now gay just seems a bit shoehorned in for the sake of it tbh.
There's also a bit involving vomit at the very beginning that's a bit gross (but also pretty funny, so we'll allow it.) Also there's way too much emphasis on weed. That's a bit cringey.
Tell me about the topless moments please, Sugarscape:
There's topless Zac Efron and lots of him. That's all you need to know.
Overall verdict out of five:
Thoughts on that, then? Gonna be going to see Bad Neighbours 2 when it hits cinemas on May 5th? Tweet us over @sugarscape after you've checked out the vid below, please and ta.
