The 1975's Matty Healy has become the latest celeb to join the cooler than cool club of famous people who like to slag off One Direction, because everyone knows that telling the press you hate 1D makes you instantly more talented and awesome. Sigh.
Yup, the chances are that two of your favourite bands are now not exactly the best of pals, after Matty slammed the boys for having no "artistic credibility" and spilled on that writing session on that writing session which didn't exactly go according to plan.
Despite saying that the 1D lads themselves are definitely "nice guys", Matt told Spin.com that he's not exactly the biggest fan of their music, their set-up or Uncle Simon. Rude.
"Oh, well... they're four guys who queued up outside an arena to sing in front of Simon Cowell," he said. "Do they really have any artistic credibility? That sounds like a mean thing to say, but it's a good question. Like, do they?"
Artistic credibility? Soz pal, struggling to hear you little bit here over the sound of One Direction's five Brit Awards, four VMAs, eleven EMAs, seven AMAs, and nineteen TCAs. Ahem.
You might be a bit confused by Matt's random digs at 1D, considering there was talk of the two bands collaborating on music together back in the day, but he went on to explain that the writing never actually took place after they found they were faced with err… musical differences.
"They got me in, and they said 'We really like your band. Would you write a song for us?' They didn't seem to be actually that interested; they just wanted to play me this song that they said was really, really inspired by us."
The song he's on about was 'Change Your Ticket', apparently influenced by The 1975's 'Girls', but after hearing One Direction's music, Matty simply told them: "Listen guys, fill your boots, the song doesn't sound that much like Girls.
"But the guitar and the whole vibe of it is a complete lift. So take the guitars off, and we're good."
Slipping in an extra little dig, he added: "It would have been a bad 1975 song."
Oh look, more people pretending to hate One Direction when they probably sing 'History' in the shower every morning. Thoughts on all of this to us @Sugarscape please guys and gals.
