The photographer behind Harry Styles's pinched-off-of-Google Instagram post has written a long message to One Direction fans defending his copyright over the picture and slamming the homophobic, xenophobic, and racist insults that have been thrown his way.
Taking to his Facebook page to offer his perspective on the whole furore, Ezequiel Scagnetti wrote a pretty lengthy message to the fandom:
"Guys, as far as I understand, most of you are teenagers, this is the only reason I take the time to write to you, despite all your extremely aggressive, xenophobic, homophobic, and racist insults," he began.
Arguing that the fans should appreciate how lucky they are to be in the top 0.5% of wealth worldwide, and pointing out that both he and Harry are similar in that they depend on copyright for their livelihoods, he said:
"You are spreading hate, unlimited hate in the honour of Harry Styles. Do you know that Harry Styles and myself, we live off copyright? Every streamed song, every CD you buy, every ticket you pay, you are paying artist's copyrights. Nothing is free."
Agreeing that Harry isn't the first to post a picture of his online without proper credit, he said:
"He is not the first publishing my work without permission and without previous agreement. But you should understand that I have the right to do it [sue him] if I want. And I have the right to be upset."
Adding that in spite of all this, he doesn't have any plans to sue Harry, he continued:
"So, I do not need to sue Harry Styles, or One Direction, even if the harm you are doing to my professional image on my Facebook page by rating it at the lowest it could only finish in more harm to Harry Styles, as all this happen because his illegal use of my image".
Acknowledging that Harry did try to make amends by later deleting the image, the photographer added that he is "okay with this", and will even give One Direction's music a listen to, ending his message with a plea for the fandom to "follow their dreams", and "create their own stories".
Phew, well if you thought that was long, that wasn't even the whole thing. Take a look at some screenshots of the whole post here:
