Sam Smith might've won an actual Oscar last night at the 86th Academy Awards, but not everyone was jumping with joy for him - after Tom Daley's fiancé and filmmaker Dustin Lance Black threw all the shade on Twitter.
Last night, Sam walked away from the Oscars with the gong for Best Original Song for 'Writing's On The Wall' from Spectre, and dedicated it to the LGBT community during his winners speech.
He commented: "I stand here tonight as a proud gay man and I hope that we can all stand together as equals one day. I read an article a few months ago by Sir Ian McKellen, and he said that no openly gay man had ever won an Oscar.
"If this is the case, even if it isn't the case, I want to dedicate this to the LGBT community all around the world."
Only, er, it turns out it isn't the case - as not only has the likes of Elton John won an Academy Award for the music in Lion King, but Dustin Lance Black won one for Original Screenplay back in 2009 - and so took to Twitter to let Sam know he was misinformed.
Oh, and call him out for texting his fiancé aka Tom Daley at the same time. Awkward.
He wrote: "Hey @SamSmithWorld, if you have no idea who I am, it may be time to stop texting my fiancé. Here's a start" with a link to his winners speech for the film Milk. So that's dramatic.
As of yet Sam is yet to respond, but as you can imagine, hilarious reactions, GIFs and memes have been doing the rounds as of yet.
THOUGHTS? Do you think Sam deserved to be shaded or what? Let's discuss over on our Twitter or in the comment box below, you lovely lot.
