Justin Bieber's new dreadlocks have basically divided the entire planet. Our mum can't get her head around 'em, we *think* we're loving the look and loads of people took to Twitter to claim it's actually cultural appropriation. Well now Justin's reportedly been defending his barnet; telling his pal Big Sean people just need to back off a bit.
Yup - apparently Biebs has denied claims he wants to 'be black' and refuses to say sorry for rockin' the hairstyle; which he showed off IRL at the iHeartRadio Music Awards the other night.
The International Business Times UK reports that Justin told Big Sean: "[People say] you wanna be black and all that stuff, I'm like 'its just my hair.'"
Justin faced a bit of a backlash when he debuted his 'do on Instagram last weekend, becoming the latest in a line of celebs to face accusations of cultural appropriation (Kylie Jenner and Zendaya had similar trouble.)
One fan tweeted: "I love Justin so so much but I wish he would stop appropriating black culture over. And over. And over. And over again." [sic], with radio host Charlamagne Tha God saying: "Justin Bieber didn't get the memo that white people look stupid with dreadlocks, huh?" [sic].
What d'ya make of that, then? Is Justin appropriating black culture or does everyone need to pipe down a bit? Tweets over @sugarscape would be much appreciated, puhlease.
