Experts reckon you can actually tell a lot about somebody's personality type from their social media profile picture alone; being able to determine whether someone's conscientious, artistic or neurotic.
According to a new study by the University of Pennsylvania, the brightness and 'aesthetic quality' of a person's Twitter profile pic can tell you a lot about how open and positive they are as a person. Faaancy.
Based on thousands of Twitter icons, a team of researchers found that pictures with a 'high aesthetic quality' (increased sharpness and less blur) were associated with an open personality, with neurotic users choosing not to show their face and those who are more extraverted typically showing more than one face.
Meanwhile users who are considered agreeable are apparently more likely to have colourful, blurry and bright photos.
The University of Pennsylvania then put together this diagram thingy which seems well confusing but basically takes into account the composition, number of faces in a photo and expression to determine what a person's like.
As we said, kinda confusing but the stuff before it makes sense.
