If today is the day you opened your A-Level results and figured out your plans for life you'll be aware of the fact that waiting to find out whether you made the grades or not is pretty stress-inducing.
So, to make sure none of you feel alone out there, we've compiled the eight tense stages of waiting for your exam results, because it's actually a pretty universal process. Behold.
You wake up in the morning with an immediate sense of doom, and that's assuming you even slept in the first place. This is the day of judgment, the day that will influence the rest of your life, and your stomach is in knots that even Harry Styles's soothing voice couldn't untie.
If the initial seconds after you wake up aren't enough torment, the wave of dread that happens the minute you get of bed is 10x worse.
Is it too late for you to shimmy out your window and run off into the sunset? Will a meteor come and destroy the Earth before you have to face that dreaded envelope? Who actually knows.
3. Weird, sickening queasiness
Breakfast is something that you can't even stand to look at. You can't think about lunch, dinner, your evening plans, or where you'll be in 10 years time. It's like your brain can only focus on your results, and nothing beyond that is of any importance.
4. Frantic back-up plans
You still have at least an hour until you figure out what your fate is. Suddenly you start thinking about taking a gap year in Africa, applying for astronaut training, or stealing someone's identity and forging a whole new life in Fiji.
5. Bargaining and Regret
If only you hadn't spent all that time in Year 7 thinking about the size of your eyebrows you might be in a better position right now. What if you'd have concentrated in class more? Revised a bit harder? YOU HAVE SO MANY REGRETS.
6. Intense amounts of self-reflection
The refreshing of this single UCAS page has made you think about every life decision you've ever made leading up to this point. You feel like you know yourself better than ever before. Like you've suddenly become wiser and more attuned to your inner emotions.
Heck, you even start thinking things like this:
It's a minute before the page will refresh with your results, and your body is coursing with adrenaline. Your hands are a little shaky, and your heart is beating faster than it would be if Zayn Malik turned up at your door and confessed his deep, passionate feelings for you.
8. Acceptance, Relief and Physical exhaustion
You refresh the page and all your deep-seated anxieties just wash away. You feel lighter than air itself, like you could flap your wings and just fly on out of your bedroom and into your new adult life. You feel like Frodo after he destroys The One Ring, but on a grander scale.
You are ready to take on the world. But first you need a long nap.
