She like a spinny bra wearing fountain of knowledge.
You’d think that wearing dresses made of cupcakes and rocking a Jungle Jane coconut bra in music videos would mean that Katy Perry was naturally a pretty confident kinda gal, but she’s admitted that actually, learning to love herself didn’t come easily to her.
In a recent chat with Joy magazine, Katy talked all things confidence, and revealed that she’s only become comfortable in herself by realising that she needed to ignore what everybody else said about her. Except for if someone tells you that your skirt’s tucked into your knickers, because that’s just important advice.
Katy admitted in the interview that these days she pays ZERO attention to what people say and write about her, which has made for a much happier Katy Kat: “I am the captain of my career. But I am also Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, which is my real name.”
She added that her celeb image isn’t a realistic one, and is all part of the popstar package: “My image is just something superficial. I also try not to pay attention to what other people think of me.”
Explaining that it used to bother her, she revealed: “I used to have Google alerts set up, which would notify me about everything that was being written about me. But I've stopped all that now. After all; there are more important things in life."
Agreed, K-Pez. Like spending time with lovely people who ACTUALLY matter, working hard to achieve all your dreams, and cheese sandwiches. Mainly sandwiches.
Some rather cracking advice there from La Perry Potato, dontcha think? Although she did miss out the #1 top tip for cheering yourself up, which is stick Roar on your iPod at full volume and dance like it’s 1999.
Glad to hear that Katy’s stopped caring what other people think and is all about the self-confidence? Agree with her tips? Got any of your own? Leave ‘em in the comments if you fancy.
