We caught up with the up and coming music star Beth Rowley to talk about her new album, her inspiration and the music she listened to when she was growing up...

Your debut album, Little Dreamer, is out now. How does that feel?
I have been waiting ages for this to come out, it’s been ready since December so it’s been a long time and I've been really escited about it and i'm already starting stuff for the next album!

What is Little Dreamer about?
Each song has it’s own story but there isn’t a theme to the album, each song was written by myself and Ben Castle - I’ve been writing with him for four or five years. There are some old gospel tunes on there, a Bob Dylan song and a Willie Nelson song so it’s a big mix up.

Where’s your favourite place to shop?
Well I get given a lot of clothes, me and my friends swap clothes a lot - the top I am wearing now is from a friend! I prefer to buy something really cool and one off and wear it lots rather than buying something cheap that will go out of fashion really quickly. Charity shops are probably my favourite!

As you are coming more well known are you happy with the fame?
I haven’t really got any at the moment so I am the same as I have always been, apparently there is going to be a billboard of me up in Bristol so that will be cool, I am going to get my friends and family to gather round and take pictures! We’ll see how it goes…

Where do your influences come from?
Various different places but mainly from blues and gospel, soul and country stuff from home – my family are into all dofferent kinds of music so I grew up listening to all sorts.

So if you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?
Probably someone like Neil Young or Willie Nelson – the old school crew!

How would you describe your music to someone who is not familiar with it?
I’d say it’s really hard to categorise it, I’d say it was an eclectic mix.

How is the tour going so far? What place are you most looking forward to?
We did a really good gig in Ireland so anywhere in Ireland – the venues are small enough to be intimate but they are big theatre venues and the audience in Ireland are amazing and they have a really good response to my music. I’ve got a gig coming up in London, in Camden and that’s cool – it’s a really amazing venue so will be cool!

How do you relax when you aren’t busy?
I watch a lot of films – it’s a great way for me to switch off. I love going to the cinema and I go a lot.

If you had a perfume what would it be called and what would it smell of?
I’d call it something like… ooh that’s hard – I have a perfume at home that smells like figs and I really love it so it would smell fruity – I like that idea but I wouldn’t know what to call it…

If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?
Roast dinner – I love roast potatoes in gravy!

What’s the weirdest thing you have ever eaten?
Kangaroo when I was in Australia – or should I not really say that, is that bad? It was really common in Australia!
