We met Meg at a posh London hotel in a suite that was definitely fit for a Princess - complete with pink silk coathangers and a mound of yummy cakes!

When did you decide you wanted to be an author?
Well I just always loved to write since I was a little kid and I could write, so that was my hobby. I wrote all the time, and it wasn’t until really till I was in my twenties and my dad died, that I thought well, this is something that I’ve always loved to do and I really should stop wasting time.

What were you’re favourite books growing up?
Oh my gosh, I actually loved comic books and I loved fantasy novels but I also actually loved romance novels too. I would read anything anybody gave me. I loved smutty novels that my mum would read and mystery novels and spy novels, especially James Bond, I would read anything.

We’ve read that one of your pen names is Jenny Carroll - how did you come up with it?
Jenny Carroll was my dead cat! So, it’s really funny actually because my favourite book of all time is Cold Comfort Farm, which is actually British [Meg is American], and it’s really funny because that name is in that book, which is just totally co-incidental! I don’t know why I picked that name for my cat but that’s it, and when I was reading that book not so long ago all of a sudden I saw it – it’s the name of a fake movie star in that book – so I was like oh my god - total coincidence!
