Poor Cheryl Cole doesn’t look like she’ll be getting better any time soon, as last night it emerged that her condition had got worse.

A friend of the singer told the Daily Mail that she had fluid on her lungs and may be in hospital for some time yet.

"She has got fluid on the lungs. She's not good, no. She's still in intensive care so it doesn't look like she'll be out of hospital for a while yet."

Cheryl’s mum Joan and her rumoured boyfriend Derek Hough have been keeping vigil by her bedside. Derek, who is wracked with guilt, has given up all high profile dancing commitments to stay with her.

The dancer’s step-father told The Sun that he blames himself for Cheryl’s condition as it was his choice to take her on a luxury holiday to Tanzania where doctors believe she picked up the disease.

"Derek feels guilty. He is very distressed about all this. He feels he has done this to her. He rang his mom yesterday in tears.

"Derek feels it's all his fault. He organised the holiday as something wonderful. For it to end up like this is terrible. He feels dreadful."

He added that Derek and Cheryl were an item saying: “He really loves her.”

Cheryl, who has now spent five nights in hospital, will definitely be too ill to finish the final stages of The X Factor auditions and Pussy Cat Doll Nicole Scherzinger will replace her.

We hope that Cheryl pulls through soon and are sure that having her gorge new man Derek and lovely mum by her side will help aide a quick recovery.

We also wish that Derek would stop blaming himself. We understand why he feels bad but it was no one’s fault that Cheryl has become so ill.
