He ain't no gold digger


Although the rumours of their split started pretty much as soon as they got it together, we were still sad to hear that Russell Brand and Katy Perry have decided to get a divorce.

But according to rumours, the British comedian doesn't want any of his wife's money, and hopes to stay on as friendly terms as possible with the American singer.

Wed in a traditional Hindu ceremony in India in 2010, the couple have only been married for a relatively short 14 months.

However, it seems they may have never signed a pre-nuptial agreement, and under Californian law this means that Russell could have been entitled to half of Katy's £28 million fortune.

But it looks like the comedian, who is himself worth about £4 million, is no gold digger, refusing to take a dime of Katy's assets as part of the divorce settlement.

A source close to the couple told gossip website TMZ: "This divorce is as amicable as it gets, and Russell is a mensch (Yiddish for a good person)."

Apparently Russell has already filed the divorce papers, but will have a six month wait on his hands before the split is finalised.

Now they are officially divorcing, we've been hearing a LOT of rumours about potential new love interests. According to sources, Russell Brand has been texting New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel, who funnily enough we think looks quite a bit like Katy.

As a source told America's OK magazine: "He thinks she's hysterically funny and cute, too. He loves her quirky sense of humour, and thinks they'd be gret together both on and off screen. There's a real spark there."

Is Russell noble to walk away with nothing or just plain crazy? Oh what we could buy with £4 million..
