She'll be pursuing her music career instead..
With a starring role in Disney's Camp Rock and a star-studded romance with Joe Jonas, it seemed like Demi Lovato had it all, but appearances can be deceiving. Struggling with issues surrounding her image, self-harm and an eating disorder, she had a bit of a breakdown on tour with the Jonas brothers, where she punched a back-up dancer in the face. Checking into rehab shortly after, she has since said getting help was one of the best decisions she's ever made.
Two years on, back on track and facing her demons, the Camp Rock star has said that she won't be taking any movie roles until she's completely sorted her private life.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Demi said: "I know that I could be in a fragile state of mind if I go back in front of camera; I'm not really confident enough.
"The camera adds 10 pounds and I feel like I have too many tattoos right now to go back on screen. I want to act again if they can find a way to cover my tattoos and one day I'd love to be respected as an actress."
Despite being afraid that she would be cast as just another troubled celebrity, the singer made the decision to spend 3 month in rehab to sort out her problems.
"The key is that you have to want it. The problem with a lot of celebrities is that they go into rehab, but they don’t stay for the full amount of time. I wanted to go home after 30 days, but they told me, 'No, you’re not better.' I went through 14 hours of therapy every day. It wasn’t fun."
But don't you worry Scapers, the Camp Rock-ette won't be disappearing off our screens completely. Instead, Demi is going to use the time away from acting to concentrate on her singing career.
"When you are on stage singing, you are far away from people, you’re not up close and it’s very liberating," she said.
